👋 Hello. We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our team at ASquared. Is that you?

We craft impactful digital products and services for startups, scaleups, and enterprise organisations, primarily through our venture-building programme, Impact Builder. As a certified B Corp, we care deeply about doing good work with good people.

When we talk about a midweight role, we mean someone who is ready to take genuine ownership of well-scoped design work, make thoughtful decisions independently, and proactively seek support when it will improve the outcome. You don’t need to have encountered every single problem or scenario yet—we care far more about your judgement, your curiosity, your craft, and how you develop your practice.

What you’ll be doing

Our work ranges from early-stage founders shaping a raw proposition to established teams untangling complex digital tools. You’ll be in the thick of it, helping transform ideas into intuitive, shipped software.

Own well-scoped design end-to-end. You’ll take features and product areas from initial discovery right through to polished, accessible, build-ready UI. You understand how to structure user journeys, information architecture, and interactions so people can effortlessly accomplish their goals.
Make sense of messy problems. You don’t need a paint-by-numbers brief. You’re comfortable diving into ambiguity, investigating root causes, and comparing practical solutions using evidence and clear rationale.
Talk to humans and validate early. You’ll plan and carry out proportionate research—interviewing users, speaking with stakeholders, and running usability tests. You champion user needs while balancing them thoughtfully against business goals and technical constraints.
Prototype to think and communicate. You know sketches, wireframes, and prototypes aren’t just formal deliverables; they are how you explore ideas, test assumptions, and bring clients and colleagues along on the journey.
Sweat the craft and detail. You have a sharp eye for typography, layout, interaction design, and brand expression. You care about creating cohesive, delightful experiences that don’t just work on paper, but genuinely feel great in someone’s hands.
Build with engineers, not just hand off. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers within an Agile cadence, understanding constraints and staying involved through delivery to ensure what ships lives up to the thinking behind it.
Form trusted client relationships. You’ll present work with confidence, articulate the why behind your decisions without relying on jargon, manage expectations, and spot opportunities where design can add further value.

Deliberate experimentation: You make informed decisions about where AI genuinely accelerates research, ideation, and rapid prototyping—and where traditional hands-on craft is the better path.
Context and privacy: You know how to frame prompts with clear constraints and intent, while strictly safeguarding client confidentiality and sensitive data.
Critical human review: You never take AI output at face value. You evaluate results against your own design knowledge, correct hallucinations, and keep strong human-in-the-loop checks.
Accountability: The tool doesn't ship the work—you do. You remain fully accountable for the quality, accessibility, and ethics of what you deliver.

What we’re looking for

You’ll likely have around 4+ years of professional product or digital design experience, ideally having worked on real-world digital products from discovery to launch.

A portfolio showcasing real, shipped work that highlights your problem-solving process, UI craft, and how you iterate based on evidence.
Solid design fundamentals across interaction design, typography, layout, and mobile/web accessibility.
Strong Figma fluency, comfortable with components, prototyping, and working within established design systems.
Experience working in Agile, cross-functional sprints alongside developers and product managers.
A curious, self-starter mindset and an appetite for deliberate experimentation.

(Nice to haves: prior experience in a digital studio/agency, early-stage startups, SaaS products, or native mobile apps on iOS and Android).
